Robin Garrison
Robin Garrison, CAMS-Audit
Managing Consultant at Bates Group

Robin Garrison has over 15 years’ experience in the industry, specializing in FinTech, Banking, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), RegTech, and cross-border remittances. With a strong focus on risk management and regulatory compliance, Robin has successfully developed and implemented robust compliance programs for both startups and established financial institutions. 

Robin has provided fractional Chief Compliance Officer services for fintechs and regtechs, as well as general compliance advisory and remediation services in AML/BSA/OFAC, Risk Management, program development, scaling and oversight, marketing/UDAP/UDAAP, consumer protection, banking, and product development. Her experience includes management and senior management level roles at companies such as Western Union, Wise, MainStreet Bank, Rize, and FirstBank. 

Robin is an active contributor to the industry, having participated as a speaker and panelist at numerous conferences and served on various advisory councils. She holds an advanced CAMS-Audit certification.

Chief Compliance Officer & BSA Officer at Kraken

Lauren Benjamin is currently the Chief Compliance Officer for Kraken's US Spot Broker, Pawyard Interactive, Inc. (PWI), and is an established AML/BSA Compliance specialist with over 12 years of industry experience in both traditional finance and cryptocurrency compliance. Prior to her appointment as CCO, Lauren served as PWI’s Deputy CCO for almost 2 years. Among Lauren’s responsibilities in this role is leading PWI’s licensing initiative, working closely with state regulators in obtaining and maintaining licensure in over 42 states, managing oversight for all US AML/BSA and Consumer Compliance operations, and managing the operating entity’s AML Risk Management program. 

Before taking on Officer roles with PWI, she served in multiple leadership roles within Payward Group’s Compliance Operations Team, leading CDD and EDD. Before joining the Payward Group in 2019, Lauren was a Compliance Officer, AVP, with the Global Governance Group at Bank of the West, where she focused on program and policy development and management, risk assessments, and compliance control governance. Throughout her career in Global Financial Crime Compliance, she has also served as a Senior Investigator with Financial Investigative Units at Bank of the West and Union Bank (MUFG). 

Lauren received her Master of Arts in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) and holds a bachelor’s degree with honors (Summa cum laude) in Political Science, with a focus in International Security and Globalization and Development. She holds both the ACAMS Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and Certified Cryptoasset Anti-Financial Crime Specialist (CCAS) and holds the Chainalysis Reactor Certification.

John Wiethorn
John Wiethorn, CAMS, CCI
Head of FinCrime Compliance & AML/BSA Officer at Gusto

John Wiethorn is the Head of Financial Crime Compliance and board-appointed AML/BSA Officer at Gusto. John previously served as the AML/BSA Officer at Wise, where he oversaw financial crime compliance for North America and led compliance efforts supporting the company's successful public listing on the London Stock Exchange. 

He previously worked as a senior consultant with Navigant Consulting and also held multiple roles in financial crime compliance at American Express, including working as one of the first members of the company’s enterprise AML quality control team. 

John is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), a Certified Cryptocurrency Investigator (CCI), and has been admitted to practice law in both Utah and Arizona.
